Hormone, thyroid and autoimmune concerns

Care path: Functional medicine

Fatigue, weight changes, poor sleep, feeling cold, brain fog, mood changes or changes in your cycle can have many causes, including thyroid and other hormone changes.

If you have been told your labs are “normal” but you still do not feel like yourself, or you live with an autoimmune condition and want a broader look at nutrition, sleep, stress and daily habits, functional medicine with Dr. Nick can help you understand the bigger picture. It works alongside your physician and specialists, not instead of them.

Common questions

Which symptoms can be linked to hormone or thyroid changes?

Common examples include tiredness that sleep does not fix, weight changes, feeling unusually cold or warm, hair or skin changes, low mood, brain fog and changes in your cycle. Each of these has other possible causes too, which is why history and testing matter.

My labs came back “normal,” but I still don’t feel well. What now?

Functional medicine starts with your whole history, including the labs you already have. Dr. Nick looks at how your symptoms, sleep, nutrition, stress and activity fit together, and recommends further testing only where it can add useful information.

You can upload recent results through the patient portal before your consultation.

What testing might be recommended?

That depends on your history and goals. Blood work is often part of the picture. Dr. Nick explains why he recommends each test and what the results could tell you, so you can decide what makes sense.

I have an autoimmune condition. Can functional medicine help?

Functional medicine does not replace care from your rheumatologist, endocrinologist or other specialist. What it adds is time spent on your history and on the factors you can influence, such as nutrition, sleep, stress and movement, alongside the care you already have.

Should I stop or change my thyroid or hormone medication?

No. Never change or stop a prescribed medication without talking to the clinician who prescribed it. Dr. Nick will review everything you take as part of your history.

What does a plan usually include?

Plans are built around food, supplements where they make sense, exercise, sleep and stress, adjusted step by step. Some people start with a single case review of their results; others work with Dr. Nick for 90 days.

About FX Labs + 90-Day Coaching

How to start

  1. Start with a 30-minute call

A functional medicine consultation is a 30-minute call with Dr. Nick about your history, symptoms and goals.

  2. Your history and existing labs

Symptoms, timeline, medications, family history and any results you already have.

  3. A summary and your options

Afterward, Dr. Nick sends a summary with the testing he recommends and your options, from a single case review of your results to 90 days of coaching on food, supplements and exercise.

  4. Adjust as you go

Check-ins help you understand your results and what to do next, and the plan changes as you do.
